Better Paint
Handling and processing of a Saylor Wheel is uniquely suited for awesome paint. We carefully handle our wheel components; we laser weld and we use a water based lubricant that has no oil. Starting with a cleaner wheel means that the chance for impurity on the wheel prior to painting is greatly reduced. No spatter, no slag, no oil.
We pre-treat the steel surface with aggressive cleaner, a nano-particulate conversion coating that holds the paint to the surface and we rinse with reverse-osmosis water prior to primer painting (think Aquafina). The nano-particulate coating looks like microscopic metal needles that electrically and mechanically hold the paint onto the wheel.
We primer coat the surface with a 3000-hour salt spray resistant electrocoat primer and cure it in an oven. Why the crazy good corrosion resistance? What good is awesome paint if it cannot stay awesome?
We white glove transfer our primed wheels into our powder coating system, powder paint and oven cure them again. Our powder coat has a typical 98% gloss level, so shiny that you may want to reach for sunglasses.
Once perfectly cured, every wheel is inspected and white glove handled either onto the pallet or into the box. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
